Joe Marini

In 1979, Joe studied with famous jazz drummer Eugene 'Babe' Fabrizi at the age of ten. In 1984, Joe shared the stage at 14 years of age with world renowned bassist, Billy Sheehan.

Joe performed in a number of rock, jazz, and jazz fusion bands in Pittsburgh such as "Truth and Soul", and "Upfront", with Emmy award winner Scott Anderson, Nick DiBattiste, and Brian Stahurski. "Upfront" released a CD called "Killing Time" in 1995 which received great reviews from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette and a number of Pittsburgh news sources. Joe brings energy, dynamics, taste, and great grooves that owe as much to Neil Peart and Steve Smith as they do to Dave Weckl and William Kennedy to every gig. Currently Joe performs and records with stellar producer/guitarist/singer-songwriter Freddie Nelson, and has performed with Greg Joseph and Rob Hertweck of the Clarks, Dave and Maureen Budway, Pete Hewlett, Jim Donovan of Rusted Root, Lisa Ferraro, Erika Luckett, Greg Macaluso, and Ester Nicholson, just to name a few. Joe was also nominated as "Best Jazz Drummer" by 'In Pittsburgh' magazine in 1996. In 2015, Joe released a solo album called 'Sympathy and Criticism' which was featured by the Tribune-review in Pittsburgh and currently is seeing airtime on WYEP 91.3FM in Pittsburgh. Joe also performs currently with Jim Donovan and the Sun King Warriors, featuring Rusted Root founder Jim Donovan, performing for thousands of fans in PA, NY, and WV.
