Phil Bloom

I've been playing and teaching drums professionally for the past 31 years. I am proud to say that I have performed with hundreds of talented people over the years on stage and recordings.

I have had the pleasure of taking lessons with many different teachers over the years with teachers Sam Ulano and Benrard Purdie standing out. As a teacher I have blended concepts from all my former teachers and have mixed them with a large dose of my own time tested techniques. My short list of influences are: Steve Gadd, John Bonham, Hal Blaine, Steve Jordan, Jeff Porcaro, Neil Peart and Keith Carlock. I consider myself a session drummer so I'm well versed in all styles of music. I think this is an invaluable skill to have as a player and teacher. I am a fan of music and the song, I like to play and teach from a musical perspective. I always tell myself and my students "the song is greater than I". I consider myself a professional musician who happens to play drums!
