About Chris Enriquez

Chris Enriquez is a Brooklyn-based drummer whose powerful, dynamic style spans post-hardcore, alternative rock, punk, and heavy music.

Chris's Career

Chris Enriquez’s first foray into professional drumming began in 1999 when he joined the legendary Long Island emo band On the Might of Princes, often credited as innovators of the screamo genre. After years of touring and releasing records, the band eventually disbanded.

Several years later, he joined the Brooklyn metal act Primitive Weapons, who were instrumental in reshaping New York City’s aggressive music scene through both their music and their influential venue, Saint Vitus. After multiple releases and tours, that band also came to an end.

In 2016, Chris got a major break when Brooklyn doomgaze band Spotlights were offered a U.S. tour supporting Deftones and Refused, and their drummer was unable to complete the run. Chris filled in for the tour and soon became a permanent member of the band. In 2017, Spotlights signed to Ipecac Recordings, the label founded by Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle), and Chris continues to perform with them today.

In 2019, he also became the drummer for legendary Brooklyn musician Julie Christmas, and remains an active member of her band.

Most recently, in 2024, Chris joined the iconic post-hardcore band Orange 9mm, who have since been busy with new music and tour announcements.

When he’s not performing, Chris teaches music to kids, does session work for artists around the world, and helps run New Noise Magazine.

"I love that Dream Cymbals have such a balanced sound, especially for heavy rock music. They don't over power my bandmates in ways that I feel other cymbal brands do. I love how every line within the Dream brand share this in common while still offering a solid variety of sounds to choose from."
