About Chuck Ferreira

Chuck is a busy rock and multi-genre player in the Boston music scene and is the regular drummer for Greg Hawkes (of The Cars), several Boston bands such as Eddie Japan, Lovina Falls, The Shang Hi Los, and The Evil Streaks. He is also a regular studio/session player and plays fill-in gigs and special "one off" shows as time allows.

Chuck's Career

Chuck Ferreira is an active, versatile, and in-demand player in the vibrant Boston music scene. Currently, Chuck is the drummer for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member, Greg Hawkes (of The Cars) and is a regular member of the award-winning Eddie Japan, as well as Lovina Falls, The Shang Hi Los, The Evil Streaks, and Devil Love.

Dedicated to a musical and compositional approach, and with particular attention to detail, he’s also a regular session player at some of Boston's most accomplished studios, including Mad Oak Studios, Q Division Studios, and Wooly Mammoth Sound.

Chuck’s been fortunate to have been able to tour across the country and share the stage with such rock luminaries such as Cheap Trick, The Motels, The Fixx, and Midge Ure (of Ultravox) and remains extremely busy playing regularly across New England, the East Coast and the Tri-State area.

The current Dream set-up Chuck uses includes a mix of Bliss and Contact cymbals, chosen for their unique ability to provide a warm and complex tone in both studio and live situations, as well as standing out in a louder live mix.

When not drumming, Chuck and his wife are busy “Home Haunters” and Halloween aficionados, spending several months of the year designing and constructing a basement haunted attraction for friends and neighbors during the month of October.

"What I love most about my Dream cymbals is what I call their "tonal color." There's an incredible range in both the Bliss and Contact cymbals I use—especially the Bliss 18" crash/ride, which has become the defining cymbal in my setup. At least two or three times a year, a drummer—either from another band on the bill or someone from the audience—will ask me, "What's the cymbal on your rack tom side? It sounds amazing," or something to that effect. I'm certain I'll never not have a Bliss crash/ride as part of my setup from here on out!"
