About Eli Green

Eli Green is an Adelaide-based session, touring & studio drummer, drum educator, music director & drum technician. He’s toured with top Australian artists, featured at major festivals and holds endorsements from C&C drums and Dream Cymbals. With a Diploma of Music, a reputation for precision, texture and intensity, and an active teaching role through his drum school, The Backbeat Academy - Eli combines performance and education at the highest level.

Eli's Career

Eli Green first picked up the sticks at age seven and instantly knew the drums would be his lifelong passion. Growing up in rural South Australia, he left high school at seventeen to pursue a diploma of music, funding his studies by teaching lessons. What began as a way to make ends meet has since grown into The Backbeat Academy, now one of the largest drum schools in South Australia.

His playing soon caught the ears of both local and national acts, landing him gigs with post-punk heavyweights The Mark of Cain, The Voice star Rachael Leahcar, and many more. Eli also drives the chaotic energy behind Adelaide metalcore band Life Pilot, whose explosive live shows have earned them a dedicated following. Along the way, his work has been recognised with induction into the South Australian Music Hall of Fame with The Mark of Cain, multiple Fowler’s Live and SA Music Awards, and features in Drumscene Magazine. He’s also performed at the renowned Ultimate Drummer’s Weekend, further cementing his reputation in the drumming community.

Today, Eli continues to balance teaching with an active career in the studio and on the road. His remote sessions from his private studio have contributed to releases topping both the ARIA and iTunes charts. Most recently, he’s taken his expertise to the international stage as drum tech for Australian metalcore giants Polaris, bringing his precision, knowledge, and passion for rhythm to one of the country’s most successful heavy acts.

"I first found Dream cymbals when I was a struggling music student and instantly fell in love with their sound and character. Coupled with their value for money, I couldn’t imagine playing anything else. Dream cymbals have become a huge part of my sound and identity as an artist - and as a touring musician, they have always had my back and supported me whenever I have needed anything out on the road. That’s why I’ve been a Dream Cymbals artist for over 10 years."
