About Jamie Pompei

Jamie Pompei is a Philadelphia based drummer and alumni of Berklee College of Music. He began playing drums at age 8, started his first band in middle school, and began touring and recording while at Berklee College of Music. His DIY roots with his psychedelic math rock band Bat House and punk band Ayala established him as a versatile drummer, leading to session touring work with Palehound, jasmine.4.t, Lily & Madeleine, Torres, and Julia Nunes at venues ranging in capacity from 50 to 10,000 across North America, the UK, and Europe and major music festivals including Lollapalooza, All Things Go, Girls Just Wanna Weekend, SXSW, Shaky Knees, Moogfest, and Pop Montreal.

Jamie's Career

Inspired at a young age from live music performances on MTV, Jamie developed a love for drumming at a young age through constant body drumming and assembling drum kits out of any number of pencil boxes, puzzle boxes, and whatever he could get his hands on, really. He got his first drum set at the age of 8 when he started taking drum lessons and hasn't looked back since. With an emphasis early on in reading and genre diversity, these early lessons in strong fundamentals helped him find his voice on the instrument.

He started his first band in middle school and continued playing in local bands throughout high school. While at Berklee College of Music, he became immersed in the local Boston scene with his bands Bat House and Ayala. He ran a DIY basement venue with his bandmates which fostered community and enabled his bands to DIY tour throughout the contiguous US. His genre bending playing led to professional touring work with Palehound, jasmine.4.t, Lily & Madeleine, Torres, and Julia Nunes at venues ranging in capacity from 50 to 10,000 across North America, the UK, and Europe and major music festivals including Lollapalooza, All Things Go, Girls Just Wanna Weekend, SXSW, Shaky Knees, Moogfest, and Pop Montreal.

Jamie joined Palehound as the live drummer in 2022 for support tours with Sylvan Esso, Sunflower Bean, and Pup and continued performing with the band for their "Eye On The Bat" (Polyvinyl) album cycle, including North America, Europe, and UK headlining shows as well as support for Jimmy Eat World, Boy Genius, and Jason Isbell. Palehound also performed live on KEXP and Sirius XM radio. Currently, he is also the live North American drummer for jasmine.4.t. He joined jasmine.4.t for her debut album touring cycle "You Are The Morning" (Saddest Factory), notably performing at All Things Go and on KEXP.
