Jeremy's Career

Jeremy “Bean” Clemons is a drummer, composer, and bandleader whose artistry reflects both deep musical roots and a fearless spirit of innovation. Born in St. Louis, Clemons began his musical journey with The Royalaires Drum and Bugle Corps, where he developed the discipline and precision that would define his playing. He later earned both a B.M. and B.A. in Jazz Studies from North Carolina Central University, cementing his foundation in both performance and theory.

Equally formative were the countless lessons Clemons absorbed from the local and touring musicians who passed through the St. Louis music scene. This grounding gave him not only a wide musical vocabulary but also a deep respect for tradition and community—qualities that continue to shape his artistry today.

Beyond his role as a sought-after sideman, Clemons has established himself as a leader and collaborator. He co-leads Soul Understated, a project with vocalist and songwriter Mavis “SWAN” Poole, known for its rich blend of soul and jazz, with new music slated for release in 2026. He is also a founding member of The Some of It All, an avant-garde trio with saxophonist Tinashe Blu and bassist Kevin Beardsley, pushing boundaries of sound and improvisation.

Whether anchoring a rhythm section or exploring uncharted sonic territory, Jeremy “Bean” Clemons continues to shape music with authenticity, energy, and vision—carving out a legacy that honors tradition while boldly moving it forward.
