About Jon Hellwig

Jon Hellwig is the drummer for indie-rock band Foxing, originating from St. Louis, Missouri. Touring worldwide, Foxing has gained cult status in the indie and midwest scene.

Jon's Career

Jon Hellwig began playing drums at the age of twelve, drawing early inspiration from renowned drummers such as Travis Barker, Tré Cool, John Bonham, Danny Carey, and Keith Moon. Throughout middle school, high school, and a brief time in college, he honed his craft through orchestral, marching, and jazz band percussion.

After leaving college, Jon dedicated himself fully to drumming in bands, performing in a variety of projects ranging from jazz quartets to post-rock ensembles. This journey eventually led him to form Foxing with a former bandmate in 2011. Since then, Foxing has been his creative home, a space that has allowed him to tour the world and make a modest living doing what he loves most.

In addition to his work with Foxing, Jon has expanded his passion and expertise by working as a drum tech for the legendary Tucker Rule of Thursday and LS Dunes, further solidifying his place in the drumming community.

"I absolutely LOVE my Dream cymbals. Dream makes a wide variety of amazing cymbals that cannot be beat at their price point. I constantly have other musicians hear me play and ask what cymbals I am using because they are sonically and aesthetically beautiful."
