About Keith Capsuto

Keith Capsuto is a lifelong drummer whose passion for music was shaped early on by his musical mother and uncle. Based in Los Angeles, he brings a versatile style influenced by Funk, R&B, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Latin, and Latin Jazz, along with a strong focus on solo interpretation. With years as a dedicated clinician and a lifetime behind the kit, Keith combines musical instinct, rhythm, and dynamic performance experience across multiple genres.

Keith's Career

Keith Capsuto discovered his passion for drumming almost as soon as he could walk. By the age of five, he was already banging on every pan, pot, and lampshade he could find. Music ran deep in the family — his mother, born in England, attended the Royal Academy of Music, while his uncle was an opera singer who helped shape Keith’s musical journey from the very beginning.

On his fifth birthday in Chicago, his uncle took him to one of the city’s largest music stores, where he was surprised with his very first drum kit — bass drum, snare, hi-hat, cymbal — along with a drum teacher waiting in a suit and thick glasses to begin his training immediately. From that moment on, music became his life.

By age eight, Keith had already won first place in his first talent show, and by eleven he was performing in his first kids band. His career continued to grow rapidly, and at eighteen he joined the band Windrose, touring under professional management while also running a junior drum corps for the drum store where he worked. During that time, he earned multiple awards and recognition for his musicianship and leadership.

Beyond performing, Keith has always believed in giving back through music. Back home, he worked closely with children, helping secure donated instruments and organizing bands that performed to raise money for cancer victims. Throughout his career, he became known not only as a versatile drummer, but also as a dedicated teacher, mentor, and in-demand performer who was constantly called upon to play, teach, and fill in for a wide variety of bands and projects.

"I have had endorsements with two other well-known manufacturers. However, personally, I’m not about ego or “spotlighting.” So many companies focus only on that — and on how fast a drummer can get around the drums.

What I’ve found with Dream is that they are very open to new ideas and sounds, truly listening to what drummers hear — and want to hear — from their gut and soul. If you read music, great. If you don’t, that’s great too, because it means your ears are finely tuned — exactly my point. Dream puts its focus on sound.

I’m about technique, not speed. I want to hear the beauty of a tap dancer on every drum, and the beauty of the ocean in every cymbal. Dream has delivered that for me for several years."
