About Ken Serio

Ken Serio has been playing drums since age five and began his career performing in blues and rock bands across Connecticut and Rhode Island. After moving to New York City in 1992, he became an in-demand session and touring drummer, playing on over 100 releases and touring across the U.S., Asia, Europe, and South America. A versatile musician, Ken has released 21 albums as a bandleader, with a focus on jazz, while also performing in heavy metal, blues, Brazilian, and Latin settings.

Ken's Career

Ken Serio is a versatile drummer who began playing at age five and launched his career performing in blues and rock bands across Connecticut and Rhode Island. After moving to New York City in 1992, he became a sought-after session and touring musician, recording on over 100 releases and touring across the U.S., Asia, Europe, and South America. In 2024, his jazz quartet Brooklyn Oasis—featuring Ron Carter, Tomoko Ohno, and Dave Mullen—landed on the Billboard Jazz Top 100 Albums. Ken has performed or recorded with artists including Mike Stern, Mark Egan, Vic Juris, Brian Charette, Pete McCann, Ali Ryerson, Popa Chubby, and Gil Goldstein, among many others. A dedicated student of the legendary Joe Morello for over 23 years, he also studied with Kenwood Dennard and Zach Danziger. Ken has released 21 albums as a bandleader, focusing on jazz while remaining fluent in rock, blues, Latin, Brazilian, and fusion styles. His extensive studio work includes commercials, jingles, and soundtracks.
