About Kevin Warren

Kevin Warren is a drummer born and raised in Mission, B.C., where he grew up on the grunge and punk rock sounds of the ’90s. Now based in Montreal, he brings that raw energy into a wide range of creative music, performing everything from psych rock to modern jazz.

Kevin's Career

A native of Mission, British Columbia, Kevin Warren began drumming at age nine on pots and pans while listening to bands like Soundgarden, Silverchair, Dave Matthews Band, and Sting. A year later he had a snare drum, and eventually a full kit (thanks, Mom!). He soon began lessons with local drum teacher Eran Vooys, who opened the door to a wide range of musical influences. At just 13, Kevin’s punk band won a battle of the bands competition and recorded at Bryan Adams’ Warehouse Studio—setting him firmly on the path toward a life in music.

After graduating from the Langley Fine Arts School, Kevin moved to Montreal in 2003 to complete his Bachelor of Jazz Performance at McGill University. Since then, he has collaborated with leading jazz artists including Christine Jensen, Yannick Rieu, Michel Cusson, Marc Copland, Ranee Lee, and Oliver Jones. For the past decade, he has anchored the drum chair for the Orchestre National de Jazz de Montréal, a 20-piece ensemble performing both traditional and contemporary works. He is also actively touring with Québec folk singer-songwriter Tire Le Coyote through 2026.

Kevin has additionally toured with several pop and rock acts, including The Franklin Electric, Ladies of the Canyon, TEKE::TEKE, Daniel Lavoie, Fred Fortin, and The Brooks.

"I play Dream because the cymbals sound surprisingly unique and different. They allow me to convey a pallette of emotions through the music I play. And everyone at the company is super nice too eh!"
