Khaliq's Career

Khaliq Jones is a dedicated and accomplished drummer with a lifelong passion for music. He began playing drums at the age of three and has remained committed to his craft ever since. Raised in a musical environment, Khaliq developed his skills by playing in church and observing experienced musicians from a young age. By the age of nine, he had earned the role of lead drummer for Sunday services and began performing as a young traveling musician.

Since 2017, Khaliq has been actively teaching drums. His journey as an educator began by helping fellow high school students learn musical fundamentals and rudiments. During his high school years, he achieved numerous accomplishments, including participation in the jazz ensemble, marching band, and earning multiple awards as a percussionist.

Khaliq is passionate about nurturing the talents of those around him and is dedicated to helping others grow into confident and skilled musicians. After graduating, he returned to his alma mater, South Gwinnett High School, where he served as the percussion instructor from 2021 to 2023. During his tenure, he taught over 30 students weekly, instilling discipline, creativity, and a deep understanding of rhythm.

Currently, Khaliq is pursuing a degree in Audio Engineering at the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media. Alongside his studies, he continues to perform and teach drums both locally and internationally. He presently serves as the Music Director for a church in Atlanta, Georgia, and collaborates with various bands and churches throughout the Metro Atlanta area.

Khaliq takes pride in being a well-rounded musician and educator. His teaching philosophy centers on the principle of “reach one, teach one,” with a focus on personalized instruction tailored to each student's unique learning style. He firmly believes that while every student is different, all can find a common language through drumming. His goal is to fully support and enrich each student's musical vision—ensuring no one leaves with their potential only half realized.
