About Kirkland Middleton

Kirkland Middleton is a Grammy Award–winning drummer based in New Orleans, Louisiana. A lifelong musician who began playing at the age of five, Kirkland has developed a dynamic style rooted in rock, funk, and everything in between. Since 2016, he has been the driving rhythmic force behind the acclaimed Cajun band Lost Bayou Ramblers

Kirkland's Career

New Orleans based drummer and audio engineer, Kirkland Middleton, grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana. Studying under Jermaine Prejean and Hawley Joe Gary, he has developed a deep love for both raw energy and groove. Absorbing both local and international styles, he has been playing with the Lost Bayou Ramblers since 2016.

Since Kirkland started with Lost Bayou Ramblers, they have won two Grammy awards for Best Regional Roots Music Album (2017 & 2023) & collaborated with the likes of Violent Femmes, Spider Stacy, Rickie Lee Jones, Dickie Landry, Leyla McCalla and many more. The band also tours frequently around the US and has been featured in many films and TV shows. Kirkland endorses Dream Cymbals and C&C Drum Co.
