Maximo Mastrolia is an Argentina-born drummer and educator based in Málaga, Spain, blending jazz, rock, funk, and Latin traditions on stages worldwide.

Maximo's Career

Maximo Mastrolia is a professional drummer, educator, and composer from Argentina, currently based in Málaga, Spain. Trained at Emu Educación Musical in Buenos Aires, he studied under acclaimed masters such as Pepi Taveira (jazz) and Sebastián Grosshaus (rock, funk, candombe, Latin, tango, and cajón), as well as Carlos Cuervo in Río Negro. His diverse musical education laid the foundation for a career that bridges genres and cultures.

As an educator, Maximo has taught extensively across Argentina, Spain, and Denmark. He has held teaching positions at institutions including the Escuela de Música Creadores (Río Negro), Estudio Mágico (Barcelona), and Escola de Música Da Capo (Catalonia), in addition to offering private lessons worldwide. His work covers drums, ensembles, ear training, and music literacy, shaping the next generation of musicians.

On stage, Maximo has performed internationally with a wide variety of ensembles and projects. Highlights include jazz trios and quartets on Princess Cruises, touring Argentina with the Beatles tribute band The Beetups, and recording his original experimental project Maxigrooves – Paradigm Shift. He has collaborated with groups such as Trio Burgol, Solaz, Jazztronautas, La Mezzkla, Lado Funk, Nash, Blues Lee Trio, Rola Gitana Flamenco Fusión, and Jazmín de Luna, among many others. Currently, he performs across Andalusia with Los Lolipopers, averaging 16–20 shows per month.

Throughout his career, Maximo has participated in masterclasses with world-renowned artists including David Liebman, Mike Stern, Dennis Chambers, Scott Henderson, Lincoln Goines, and Phil Maturano. In 2015, he was awarded Best Latin American Drummer at Beatle Week Latin America.
