About Mike Belitsky

Mike Belitsky is a Canadian drummer based out of Toronto. When touring, he plays with The Sadies, otherwise playing locally in Toronto.

Mike's Career

Mike Belitsky is a professional drummer living in Toronto Canada. Mike started playing drums in punk bands in Halifax, NS while in high school in the 1980's. He started touring and recording with The Jellyfishbabies in the late '80's.

He then moved to New York where he joined The Pernice Brothers a band on The Sub-Pop label. He recorded and toured The World Won't End, Chappaquitic Skyline and Yours Mine & Ours. Mike also recorded and toured with Sub-Pop artist JALE for their So Wound album.

In the late '90's Mike joined the band The Sadies and moved to Toronto to tour and record with them. Over the last 25 years the band has released over 10 studio albums, a live album and collaborated with: Neko Case, John Langford, Jon Spencer, Rick White, John Doe, Neil Young and Gord Downie. The Sadies have been nominated for 5 JUNO awards and won twice. They were shortlisted for 2 Polaris prizes.

When not recording or touring Mike plays locally in Toronto with Nichol Robertson and a band called Country Flash. He also gives private lessons to players of all levels.
