About Stephan Fess

A graduate of Capital University Conservatory of Music, Stephan is a touring and session player based in Nashville, TN.

Stephan's Career

Stephan began playing piano at the age of 6 and, under the instruction of his father, the drums at age 9. Always involved in music programs throughout school, he went on to attend Capital University Conservatory of Music in Columbus, Ohio. Studying under professor Bob Breithaupt, Stephan was involved in an extremely immersive and versatile percussion program, performing both in symphonic concert bands and contemporary ensembles.

Stephan has since made his home in Nashville, TN, developing a colorful career performing with a range of artists including James Otto, Darryl Worley, Jared Weeks (Saving Abel), Chris Kirkpatrick (*NSYNC), The Coasters, Bryan Martin, and Trailer Choir, to name a few. His burning passion for everything music manifests itself through an electric and emotional performance style that leaves everything on the stage.

"Dream not only offers a beautiful palette of tones and flavors across their cymbal lines, but they have also long excelled in the design of versatile instruments. While I do select cymbals based upon the style of music I will be playing for any given show or session, I have been able to rely on nearly every one of those choices to perform at a high level across multiple genres and in most any venue. These instruments make every day I create music both enjoyable and interesting."
