About SToP

For 25 years, SToP Percussion has brought passion and precision to stages worldwide. Blending classical artistry with the energy of contemporary and pop percussion, this eight-member group performs with one big heart and a shared love for rhythm.

SToP's Career

The Slovenian Percussion Project (SToP) has been performing for more than 25 years. Throughout this time, its percussionists have been united by a shared desire to create and recreate high-quality percussion music, explore new sonic possibilities, and deliver joyous, infectious rhythms to audiences.

SToP complements its musical and social mission by presenting educational, commentary-based concerts for young audiences, organizing the BUMfest festival, and actively encouraging Slovenian composers to write new works for percussion.

The ensemble has performed on numerous stages both in Slovenia and abroad, including Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Croatia, Montenegro, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Portugal, and South Korea. Their artistic achievements have been recognized with major national awards, including the Župančič Award in 2013 and the Prešeren Fund Award in 2014.

The members of SToP continually seek fresh ways to connect different artistic fields, intentionally moving beyond purely classical programming while following contemporary trends and global developments in percussion music. A series of successful interdisciplinary projects—featuring collaborations with dance, video, and even wood and stone sculpture—attests to the group’s dynamic and mature creativity.

Pedagogy remains a core part of their mission. Through commentary-based concerts, they introduce young listeners to the richness, beauty, and excitement of percussion music.

Over its 25-year history, SToP has built an extensive catalogue of performances, including many works written specifically for the ensemble. They offer a wide range of compelling programs tailored for diverse occasions, always delivering a colourful spectrum of percussion sounds and engaging musical experiences. This spirit is at the heart of SToP – the Slovenian Percussion Project.
