Tristan's Career

Tristan Long began drumming at the age of 12 after being inspired by the famous two-bar drum break on “Shakin’ All Over” by Johnny Kidd and the Pirates, with the legendary Clem Cattini on drums. A lifelong fan, Tristan later had the honor of depping for Clem and his band, a full-circle moment that fueled his passion for performing. Known for his flamboyant stick-twirling and explosive energy behind the kit, Tristan cites Keith Moon, Ringo Starr, and Bobby Elliott as key influences on his style.

In his early career, Tristan played with East Anglian rock band Sweet N Innocent, sharing stages with acts such as Helloween, Iron Maiden, Skin, 999, and Wolfsbane. His versatility has also seen him depping for soul legends The Foundations (“Build Me Up Buttercup”) and performing alongside artists including Gareth Gates, Midge Ure, and Deacon Blue. Today, as drummer for The Tornados, Tristan blends showmanship and solid groove, bringing unforgettable energy to every performance with Dream Cymbals at his side.

“Dream Cymbals bring out every ounce of expression in my playing – from explosive crashes to shimmering rides, they respond with warmth, power, and clarity. They give me the dynamic range I need for rock, soul, or pop, and the consistency to trust them on any stage. Dream really capture the sound I’ve always been chasing.”
