Wes's Career

Wes Crawford began his professional drumming career with acclaimed jazz and R&B vocalist Jane L. Powell, touring internationally for eleven years and earning Entertainer of the Year and Jazz Artist of the Year honors from the National Association for Campus Activities. Since settling in the Washington, D.C./Baltimore area in 1992, Wes has built a diverse career as a performer, recording artist, and educator.

He has performed and recorded with artists including Shahin and Sepehr, Lenny Marcus, Aisha Kahlil, Daryl Davis, Seth Kibel, and his own eco-rhythm ensemble Enviro Drum–Maryland, as well as appearing with symphonies, theater productions, and world music groups. His work has been featured on PBS and The History Channel.

A dedicated educator, Wes taught drum set at Goucher College from 1996–2023 and leads clinics and workshops nationwide. Through his Music And Games 4 U label, he has produced educational DVDs, rhythm-based games, and innovative percussion tools.

Wes is a Dream Cymbals, Baltimore Drum Company, and ProLogix Percussion artist, and a proud member of the Vic Firth Education Team. Recently, he’s expanded into board game design, with several titles signed and published since 2025.

"I have been using Dream Cymbals exclusively since about 2007 and love them. I'm sure I'm not the only one with "collector mentality," but my 40 Dreams are much more than enough to accommodate any style I may perform at a gig. Studio engineers love them, as do bandmates! And, unlike every other brand I have played, I have NEVER had a Dream Cymbal crack on me."
